One afternoon, Gigi is practicing when Ticu and Dora come to him. They look angry. "Listen, Gigi," says Ticu. "We don’t want a rooster to embarrass the farm at the contest. I should win, not you!" Dora adds, "And what about me? My honk is special. Your voice is just a loud screech. You don’t belong in the contest!"

They walk around him, speaking in loud, mean voices. Gigi starts to feel unsure. Maybe his voice isn’t good. The other animals don’t seem to like it. He loses confidence. Feeling sad, he says sorry to Ticu and Dora for wanting to join the contest. Then, he gives up on his dream and never tries again.

From that day on, animals and poultry at the farm admire Gigi’s crow instead of ridiculing it. Gigi's dream has come true. It is because he believed in himself, even when no one else did. Every morning, Gigi's crow rings out across the farm. It reminds everybody that, in order to shine, you must follow your inner voice. Gigi won, despite all the bullying and doubts from the other poultry.
