You are very upset about your team’s reaction and decide to tell them it is not nice to behave like that towards Patrick, by ignoring his feelings. You also remind them of his great memory for English words and that the aim of the game is not necessarily to win. It's to enjoy playing together, sharing team spirit and learning new things.

Your team struggles at first. The other team starts to get more points, and your teammates start to worry. Then, Patrick raises his hand to share a word. His teammates roll their eyes but let him speak.

“Coward,” Patrick says slowly, spelling out each letter. Everyone is surprised but impressed. The game continues. Patrick adds more and more words. Patrick writes “magnificent” and “extraordinary.” Due to this, your team wins!

Patrick’s classmates like his unique talents and start playing with him. He feels more accepted and enjoys school more. The teacher speaks of autism and empathy. She says we should accept everyone's differences. Over time, his classmates learn to appreciate him for who he is.
This story teaches us that everyone has special talents, even if we don’t notice them at first. By being kind and open to others, we can help make our class a friendlier place for everyone.
