One day, Emma had a big idea. “What if Lily leads a parade?” she said.
The kids loved the idea. They decorated their bikes, scooters, and wagons with flowers and ribbons. Lily’s wheelchair was the most beautiful of all! With bright flowers on her wheels, she led the parade, smiling as the kids cheered and followed her. After the parade, one boy said, “That was fun, but tomorrow we can just run again.”
Emma felt unsure. “Okay,” she said quietly. The kids nodded and ran off, leaving Lily by the swings.
Lily watched them play, feeling happy about the parade but sad that the fun didn’t last. She still felt left out when the others went back to their usual games. Emma did not speak up this time, she was tired of trying new ways to include Lily. She didn't try to help Lily again.
It’s important to think about everyone’s needs when we play. Kindness and teamwork can help everyone feel included, no matter how they move or play. What would you do to make sure no one feels left out?
